What is the difference between a notarized copy and an authenticated copy?
Q. I want to submit my application for university admission. They asking for one set of authenticated copies of educational documents. Is it alright if I submit the notarized copy of my educational documents.
Asked by Nasif M - Tue Jul 22 15:28:26 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, most universities want the educational documents to be sent directly from the schools themselves. When my kid went to hand his in they had to be in a sealed envelope from the school district. Sorry to say a copy will not do. You can go down to your school and make the request or call the school district administration. This is a common mistake that most people think that the admissions board will overlook, but in almost all cases it will only hold up your application until they receive the authenicated copies.

What does getting something notarized mean?
Q. I watch People's Court and hear the judges talk about getting an agreement notarized. I dont know exactly what it means though. If i am renting a room or renting out a room and sign a lease/agreement should I get that notarized and where? If I lend someone money, and they agree to pay me back by a certain date should i get that notarized?
Asked by mynames.secret - Wed May 28 16:06:25 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Renting out a room does not need a notary signature but should be done in the presence of at least one trustworthy witness. If you plan to lend someone money they should take the repayment plan to a notary and get their signature witnessed by the notary so they cannot fudge it and say they never agreed to anything. Most banks have notaries in them and if you have an account it will be free.

How do I write a notarized letter of temporary guardianship?
Q. Ok, I'm a minor, and I just recently moved to Washington, but I want to move back to Las Vegas, and in with my friends family. How should my parents write a notarized letter stating that I can live with them out of state? Please help! ASAP! Thank You.
Asked by Kristina - Fri Dec 28 14:02:30 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Your parents have to write a letter with all the particulars in place; i.e., your name, your age, your parents names, with whom you shall be living, what said familys responsibilities will be, etc. Then your mom or dad must take said letter to a notary public - look in the phone book; theyre all over the place. They cannot sign and date the letter until they are in front of the notary, whose job it is to verify that your parents are who they say they are and witness that they signed the letter. A notarys service can cost anywhere from $35 and up, depending on where you live and where you go. Hope this helps.

How to write a notarized letter?
Q. I need to write a notarized letter about how I am unemployed, have no pay stub, and no bank statements. I have no idea how the format of a notarized letter is and if I can put all three statements on one paper and get it notarized. Please help me, this has to be sent today. I would also really appreciate it if you can give me a site where I can find an example of a notarized letter.
Asked by Tina - Tue Jul 22 10:15:55 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It will be addressed to whom it may concern, or if you know the name of the company that requested this letter, then address it to them. Simply state that you are unemployed, etc. all on one letter, and then put a signature line on it with your name typed or printed under the line. Take the unsigned letter to a notary public. He/she will watch you sign and then notarize and add the notary information. It is that simple.

Where can I get a document notarized in canada?
Q. Where is the cheapest place to get a document notarized? How much does it cost?
Asked by Kelly D - Thu Dec 18 00:57:23 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Ignore the American response posted to your Canadian question (Notaries are not found in banks here). In Canada, you can get any document notarized by a Notary Public, or a Lawyer. The fee charged is between $25-$65 depending where you live. Notaries are by far cheaper than Lawyers - look in your local yellow pages to find one.

Is a notarized document without the hard-press seal valid?
Q. I went to a local bank to have some documents notarized. The lady would only press an ink stamp on it and told me she didn't have a hard-press seal. Would that document be valid without the hard seal? The ink stamp uses black ink, so it is almost impossible to tell the original notarized document from its xerox copies.

A. ...in the State of California, I can answer this. I was not required to use a raised seal. Only three states require a raised seal, or embossed seal: AL, DC, VI All other states accept an ink stamped notarization. Unrelated trivia #1: When I was a Notary Public, I used only blue ink on all official documents, whether notarized or not, because it was easier to distinguish an original from a copy. Unrelated trivia #2: Some states will allow notarization of electronic signatures, beginning this year, but that is not without some controversy regarding the practice. You can check with the Secretary of State office for your home state, should you have any questions about the requirements for a particular official notarial act in your state.… [cont.]
